Rising oil prices, along with ongoing worries about political unrest and instability in France, further weighed on risk appetite across the region.

At the stock-specific level, ASML Holding declined 2.8%, Siemens fell 3.0%, Schneider Electric lost 3.6%, Safran was down 1.3%, and Siemens Energy slipped 2.5%. ABB dropped 4.5%, even though its third-quarter results were broadly in line with market expectations.
