Hong Kong Stocks Rebound on AI Optimism and Bargain Hunting

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.3% on Wednesday, adding 79 points to close at 23,943 and recouping part of the previous session’s losses as investors hunted for bargains after Tuesday’s sell-off. Sentiment was buoyed by gains on Wall Street and renewed optimism over AI server demand, after Super Micro Computer raised its revenue outlook. That upgrade offered some respite for technology counters, which have faced pressure amid growing doubts about the payoff from heavy AI-related capital spending.

The rebound, however, remained constrained by uncertainty over China’s policy trajectory. Stronger-than-expected third-quarter GDP data have dampened hopes for further stimulus, while the People’s Bank of China left its benchmark lending rates unchanged. Investors also kept a close eye on US interest-rate expectations and the ongoing corporate earnings season for signals on the broader outlook for global equities.

Among notable movers, Z.AI Co. gained 4.6%, Lenovo advanced 3.2%, Genscript Biotech climbed 7.7%, Kingboard Laminates rose 3.6%, and MiniMax added 1.9%.
