Macau’s annual inflation rate edged up to 1.33% in September 2026 from 1.29% in August, marking a second consecutive monthly increase and the highest reading since May. The rise was largely driven by transportation costs, where inflation accelerated to 4.39% from 3.08%, mainly due to higher gasoline prices. Price growth also picked up in health (0.91% vs. 0.83%) and in information and communication (2.28% vs. 1.86%). In addition, prices for recreation, sports, and culture rose 0.7%, reversing a 0.32% decline in August. By contrast, inflation moderated in food (1.25% vs. 1.37%), housing and fuels (0.6% vs. 0.66%), and clothing and footwear (1.96% vs. 2.64%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.14%, down from a 0.28% gain in August.
