Bulgaria Producer Prices Hit Over 3-Year High

Producer prices in Bulgaria increased by 20.9% year-on-year in September 2026, up from 17.4% in August and reaching their highest level since December 2022. The acceleration was driven mainly by electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, where annual inflation jumped to 26.7% from 13.0%, underlining mounting energy-related price pressures.

Inflation in manufacturing also inched higher, rising to 10.6% from 10.4%. Within manufacturing, stronger price gains were recorded for chemicals and chemical products (11.2% vs 10.6%), food products (3.0% vs 2.8%), tobacco products (6.8% vs 5.4%), leather and related products (3.8% vs 2.8%), wood and wood products (5.2% vs 3.8%), and electrical equipment (4.0% vs 3.9%).

By contrast, price growth in mining and quarrying, while still very high, eased to 69.4% from 97.3%. This moderation reflected slower increases in the mining of metal ores (119.8% vs 165.3%) and in other mining and quarrying activities (5.5% vs 5.7%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices rose by 2.6% in September, down from a 3.0% increase in August.
