DAX Snaps 4-Day Winning Streak

Frankfurt’s DAX slipped 0.2% on Friday, ending a four-day winning streak as rising oil prices and weakness in the technology sector weighed on sentiment. Investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence came under renewed pressure after disappointing results from Amazon and Intel sparked a broader sell-off in European tech stocks. At the same time, market participants prepared for a heavy slate of economic releases, focusing in particular on inflation and GDP data, alongside a new wave of corporate earnings.

Siemens Energy, Infineon Technologies and Hochtief were among the worst performers on the day, each losing between 2% and 5%. In contrast, Bayer shares jumped 4% after the company won a unanimous jury verdict in its favor in a lawsuit alleging that its Roundup weedkiller caused cancer in three women, a decision seen as potentially easing its mounting litigation risks. Despite Friday’s pullback, the benchmark index remained on course to post gains of more than 3% for both the week and the month.
