Portugal’s Quarterly Growth Slows Sharply as Q3 GDP Cools to 0.2%

Portugal’s economic momentum weakened in the third quarter of 2026, with quarter-on-quarter GDP growth easing to 0.2%, down from 0.8% in the previous three-month period. The latest figures, updated on 30 October 2026, show a marked slowdown compared with the second quarter, when the economy expanded at a much faster pace relative to the first quarter of the year.

The data are presented on a quarter-over-quarter basis, meaning the current 0.2% reading reflects the change in GDP from the second to the third quarter of 2026, while the earlier 0.8% figure captures the change from the first to the second quarter. The downshift in growth suggests that the strong momentum seen earlier in the year has cooled notably as the year progressed.
