Indonesia’s import growth eased in September 2026, signalling a modest cooling in external demand while remaining at an elevated level on an annual basis. Year-over-year import growth slowed to 18.41% in September from 19.09% in August, according to data updated on 2 November 2026.
Both figures compare each month’s import levels to the same month a year earlier, indicating that Indonesia continues to see strong import momentum despite the slight deceleration. The shift from 19.09% to 18.41% suggests that while growth remains robust, the pace of expansion in imported goods is no longer accelerating.
The back-to-back months of high double-digit year-over-year growth underline sustained demand for foreign products and inputs, which can reflect ongoing industrial activity and consumer demand. However, the marginal slowdown could also be an early signal of stabilizing trade conditions heading into the final quarter of 2026.
