Austria Inflation Steady at 3.6% in October

Austria’s annual inflation rate was 3.6% in October 2026, unchanged from September, according to a flash estimate. “Despite the extension of the fuel price brake on October 1, which dampened the rise in fuel prices, energy prices increased by 16.5%, exceeding the 15.1% recorded in September. Prices for food, tobacco, and alcohol were unchanged year-on-year in October, after having risen by 0.8% in September,” said Manuela Lenk, Director General of Statistics Austria.

The services sector remained the main driver of inflation, although price growth in this segment eased slightly to 4.1% in October from 4.2% in September. By contrast, prices for manufactured goods rose by 0.9%, following a 0.8% increase in the previous month.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 0.3% in October, after a 0.2% rise in September. Meanwhile, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) is expected to increase by 3.5% year-on-year and 0.4% month-on-month.
