The S&P Global Germany Composite PMI for October 2026 was revised up to 53.4 from a preliminary estimate of 52.8, but edged down from September’s 11‑month high of 53.8. This signaled that overall growth in Germany’s private sector remained solid, though it lost some momentum. Service sector activity eased slightly (52.5 vs. 52.9), while manufacturing output growth strengthened (54.2 vs. 53.9).
New business growth weakened markedly, as a renewed contraction in service sector demand coincided with a softer, though still robust, increase in new factory orders. Employment declined for the first time in three months, and firms’ expectations for future output dipped marginally. On the price front, both input cost inflation and output price inflation slowed, with the latter falling to its lowest level since March.
