Colombia Export Growth Accelerates in September

Colombia’s exports rose 16.4% year-on-year to USD 5.41 billion in September 2026, accelerating from a 15.1% increase in August and marking the fastest growth since May. The expansion was driven primarily by an 87.2% jump in sales from the “other sectors” group, reflecting a sharp rise in shipments of non-monetary gold (87.5%).

Exports of fuels and extractive industry products, which accounted for 41.3% of total exports, grew 13.3%. This increase was supported by a 40.2% rise in petroleum and related products, even as crude oil export volumes fell 5.4% to 13.4 million barrels.

Manufacturing exports increased 9.3%, led by chemicals (up 9.7%) and manufactured goods classified chiefly by material (up 13.8%). Exports of agricultural products, food, and beverages—representing 23.5% of the total—edged up 2.9%, as higher shipments of cut flowers and foliage (15.6%) and palm oil (21.5%) more than offset a 26% decline in banana exports.
