FX.co ★ Baltci Dry Index at Over 3-Week High

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index, which measures rates for ships transporting dry bulk commodities, climbed for a third consecutive session on Friday, gaining 2.4% to reach 2,805 points, its highest level since October 12.

The capesize index, reflecting rates for vessels that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, also rose for a third straight day, jumping 3.7% to 4,344 points, near a one-month high. The panamax index, which tracks ships that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, advanced 2.4% to 2,003 points, its highest since October 27.

Among the smaller vessel segments, the supramax index extended its decline, slipping a further 0.5% to 1,815 points, its lowest since October 9.
