FX.co ★ UNO blames Syria for cruelty

The independent commission appointed by the UNO carried out the investigation in Syria. 621 Syrian nationals were interviewed. Their testimonies coincided with a large number of irrefutable facts. On the grounds of interviews and compelling evidence, UNO commissioners reported on the large-scale abuse of human rights during the armed conflict.

The report reads that the Syrian authorities as well as militants of Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra committed a massive amount of military crimes on Syria’s territory and violated human rights of civilians. In the course of the investigation, the UNO commission found out and assessed almost all cases of violation from March 10, 2011 until November 30, 2015.

The commission highlights the fact that on a regular basis the Syrian authorities barred UNO envoys on human rights from visiting Syria and staying on its territory to deal with the independent investigation.

The report stresses that state-run medical institutions do not provide sick and wounded people with medical care. Besides, a lot of prisoners are starving to death. According to the statement, Assad’s government is directly related to various crimes, which are acknowledged to be regular acts of brutal violence towards civilian population.

Experts in human rights called on the UNO to file a lawsuit against suspects to the International Criminal Court in the Hague. All available data on suspects and the evidence collected in the course of the investigation are stored in UNO’s safe-deposit boxes in Geneva.
