FX.co ★ Severe earthquake strikes southern Japan

On April 14, a powerful 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit the Kumamoto Prefecture, the Kyushu island, Japan. At least nine people were killed and around 800 residents were injured.

Scientists report that there were 7-magnitude quakes in some spots. The earthquake started at a depth of 10km in the Kumamoto Prefecture.

Experts say that the main quake was followed by a series of aftershocks.

According to Japanese authorities, around 14,000 families were left without electricity; and even a greater number of people, without water supply.
