And again Russian food safety watchdog Rospotrebnadzor has aimed at foreign producers. This time the focus is on Ukrainian alcohol. The experts found out that the spirits made in Ukraine fall short of the Russian regulations; moreover, such libations fuel protest sentiment. As a survey shows, the Ukrainian beer and horilka tend to bring people together and drive talks about politics. However, thanks to decisive and timely action of the top officials at Rospotrebnadzor, Russians having a thing for libations, whether soft or not, are now protected against illegal Ukrainian drinks. Recently, the Russian Federation has suspended the shipments of alcohol-containing beverages from Ukraine, namely the Obolon brand produced at Ukrainian Distribution Company, LLC as well as SUN InBev Ukraine, PJSC. The ban will not be lifted until the production is brought in compliance with the consumer protection laws. It should be reminded that Rospotrebnadzor responded to earlier imposed sanctions by banning certain food imports from Poland on the basis of grave violations. It is not unclear how Russians actually ate some of the currently forbidden products, and why did it take Rospotrebnadzor so long to ban these products.
