Donald Trump offers $1 million for evidence of US election fraud

US President Donald Trump has announced an unprecedented initiative ahead of the midterm Congressional elections: the White House chief pledged a $1 million reward to any citizen who provides information about voting fraud. The report was published by El Mundo. Under the terms of the offer, the cash payment will be made only if the submitted information leads to a real investigation, arrest, and criminal conviction of the organizers of the violations. A mere filing of an allegation without supporting evidence will not qualify for payment.

The legal mechanisms and the source of funding for the initiative have raised questions among experts, but the announcement comes amid sharply intensified legal disputes over the integrity of electoral processes in several US states. In particular, the US Department of Justice, acting at the direct behest of the president, has filed a lawsuit against Alaska authorities seeking to delay certification of the Senate race results if incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan is not declared the winner. The litigation was prompted by the appearance on the ballot of a full‑name namesake — independent candidate Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., a former schoolteacher.

Republicans contend that the presence of a same‑name candidate on the ranked‑choice ballot intentionally confuses voters and siphons off critical votes from the incumbent senator in his contest with Democrat Mary Peltola. Trump called the second Sullivan a “fake” candidate and demanded an investigation into the true motives of those who voted. At the same time, the foreign policy backdrop around electoral transparency remains tense.
