Hungary comments on blocking nuclear deal with Russia

The EU has blocked Hungary’s nuclear deal with Russia. The two countries agreed to build two megawatt nuclear reactors in the town of Paks, Financial Times reported.
Euratom refused to approve Hungary’s plans to import nuclear fuel from Russia. Hungarian authorities appealed against the decision, however, 28 EU commissioners supported Euratom’s position at the meeting which took place last week. The details of the negotiations were kept secret. According to FT, now Hungary needs to negotiate a new fuel contract or pursue legal action against the EU commission.
The information that EU imposed veto on the Hungary-Russia nuclear deal to build two nuclear reactors in Paks is not true, Agence France-Presse said citing Hungarian Secretary of State Zoltan Kovacs.
In an interview to the Hungarian Agency MTI, the official demanded for the opposite information to be published.
Hungary's European commissioner Tibor Navracsics confirmed that EC supported Euratom concerning the nuclear deal between Budapest and Moscow, Portfolio reported.
There are not any official comments from Brussels.
