Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, has regained the status of the richest man in the world according to the billionaire rating, which is daily updated by Bloomberg, is informed on May 17.
In conformity with assessment performed by Bloomberg, Bill Gates has $72.7 billion as of May 17, 2013, which is by approximately $10 billion more than last year.
Thus Bill Gates ousted Carlos Slim, the media mogul from Mexico, from the first position. The Mexican was the wealthiest person in the world in 2010-2012 with the current possessions estimated at $72.1 billion.
The Microsoft founder had been the world's richest man for 13 years starting from 1995, when in 2008 he was replaced by American financier Warren Buffett. However, Bill Gates managed to return to the first line of the rating in 2009.
The main part of his wealth is managed by Cascade Investments, a holding owned by him. In fact, not more than one-fourth of the billionaire's money is invested in Microsoft. Together with his wife, Melinda Gates, he is a co-founder of a charitable foundation, in which he invested over $28 billion from 1994 to 2010.
Bloomberg rating has been updated daily since early 2012. At first, only 40 people were enlisted there, though since January 23, 2013 the business news network makes the rating with 100 positions.
