The French do not buy Renault and Citroen

In France new car sales fell by 10.3% in May year-on-year, informs the local organization of car manufacturers CCFA in its regular report.
Average data of new car purchases shows that sales of the French brands - Renault (-20.3%) and Citroen (-14.5%) fell most of all. In total sales of PSA Peugeot Citroen narrowed by mere 8.2%, as the indicator of Peugeot amounted to -2.9%. Renault group sold 16.5% less cars than a year before in May.
For five months since the beginning of the year car sales on one of the largest EU markets slid 11.9% to 740,000 autos.
Aside from the French producers a few foreign brands can be singled out, as they managed to seriously improve the position on the local market. Thus sales of Toyota in France increased by 10.2% and those of Fiat expanded by 12.3%.
The European car market has suffered from falling for the second month in line, as the Europeans are buying cars more seldom due to continuing recession in the European Union, which influences the income of citizens to a great extent. In April new car sales in Europe advanced for the first time in 19 months and notched mere 1.8% as compared to the same period of the last year, when it was mentioned that the French and Italian markets continue to narrow.
