US debt reaches record high

For the first time in history, the US national debt has almost reached $22 trillion, more than $2 trillion higher than when Mr Trump took office. The figure is impressive. However, experts and analysts have no doubt that Congress will once again impose new limits. Although this amount seems to be huge, it does not exceed the annual GDP. The national debt has been rising in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. Over the past few years, the government increased the permissible debt ceiling several times. And, apparently, no major changes can be expected in the near future. Of course, it is too early to call the US a bankrupt, but the situation worsens every year.
