Russians don’t care about USD and EUR!

The behavior of the currency market does not trouble the Russians, according to the data of the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion. As few as 11% of the country’s population take an interest in the exchange rate of such currencies as the euro and the dollar, while 55% do not keep an eye on these figures at all.
The stumbling character of the Russian ruble in the recent months has revealed itself in the interest of the Russians in a foreign currency. Still in March of the current year, 13% of the people interviewed by the poll center were aware of the dollar and euro quotes, however in June, their number dropped by 2%. In the meantime, the degree of indifference to currencies went up; for comparison, in March it was equal to 45% of the interviewed citizens, but this figure surged by 10% in the first summer month. These data have been confirmed by monitoring the behavior of the Russians in various social networks. A certain reinforcement of the ruble in early June could have changed the situation for the better. However after Anton Siluanov, the finance minister, had spoken in favor of struggling with the abrupt growth of the national currency, exchange rate values started to sink down instantly.
Besides, the number of the Russian people holding their savings in dollars and euros has declined considerably. Back in 2009, 9% of the citizens converted their accumulated money into dollars and 8% - into euros. In 2013, those figures have fallen to 7% and 3% accordingly.
