Governement officials decided to keep themselves busy by distributing one more cash flow. This time, lawmakers invented to charge 2% more from the working population as an extra tax. From now on, get the money ready if you have parents: people’s deputies came to the decision to impose additional duties upon happy possessors of safe and sound parents. Such measures are assigned to support the pension reform as fresh funds for elderly parents’ maintenance. The author of the ground-breaking bill is Igor Zotov, a leader of the Russian pensioners’ party, and a State Duma deputy from an autonomous group. Thus, the state being unable to ensure decent retirement life of those who devoted years and health to the good of their homeland shifts the responsibility to the shoulders of other residents. “The scope of the valid public retirement system does not meet people’s needs. To ensure that retirees’ purchasing power corresponds to the reality, pension allowances have to be raised at least at their children’s expense,” Zotov asserted. A citizen can be exempted from this tax only in case their mother or father was terminated parental rights, he did not take part in a child’s upbringing, evaded alimony payments, or committed a deliberate offense against children’s life or health. Then, money is supposed to arrive in the pension fund; next, deputies will set about their immediate responsibilities: reassignment of funds in favor of parents who might be theirs. The State Duma termed the bill as “interesting”; however it suggested the draft has to be polished up in the meantime.
