Avto VAZ initiates export supplies to Western Europe

In July, AvtoVAZ supplied the first batch of Lada Granta cars for export to Western Europe. As the Autostat agency reported referring to the company’s press service, 20 cars set off to the Czech Republic and Germany.
All cars that are to be exported to Western Europe meet Euro 5 standard, they are fitted with an anti-lock braking system and emergency brake assist (ABS+BAS), and two air bags as well.
AvtoVAZ was reported to plan its car sales on the European market as early as in late 2012. It was supposed to sell Russian cars not only in the Czech Republic and Germany but also in France, Serbia, Bulgaria, and the Baltic countries as well.
Nowadays, Lada Granta is mainly supplied to the Russian market, and also to the post-Soviet Republics. The total AvtoVAZ’s foreign sales in the first half 2013 reached almost 37.5 thousand cars, two thirds of which account for Kazakhstan, and 16% account for Ukraine. The number of the exported cars came up to 41.5 thousand items in 7 months.
Lada Granta exports to Western Europe started amid AvtoVAZ sales slowdown on Russia’s area. Regarding the results of 7 months, the car sales were 8.6% less numerous than for the same period in the previous year. In July, Lada Granta sales amounted to 14.5 thousand cars: 14.5% off as compared to a year ago.
