The Stones file a lawsuit over mouth logo usage

The trial is looming to one of the leading clothing manufacturers in Germany. The Rolling Stones are suing New Yorker Fashion company for illegal usage of their mouth logo. The band's famous logo showing red lips with a lapping tongue was also involved in promo materials and posted on clothes by the company's designers. The Rolling Stones logo, which was developed in 1970 by John Pasche as the album's cover, became the musicians' trademark. Although New Yorker Fashion has already payed a fine of £17,000, the group's lawyers demand for a settlement of an additional liability of £210,000. The clothing company was forced to remove the promo posters and more than 3,000 clothes items with the logo on them. New Yorker Fashion CEO Fritz Knapp immediately reacted to the lawsuit noting that the tongue cannot be the band's private property. "The posters were made by our creative department. I won't let the Stones ban my tongue," he said. It is worth reminding that The Rolling Stones' soloist and one the world's legendary rock musicians Mick Jagger celebrated his 70th birthday on July 26. The band has still been touring. In July, for example, it performed twice in London's Hyde Park. In late June, the Stones took part in the well-known British music festival Glastonbury, the audience of which exceeds 100,000 people.
