Apple has accused Samsung of copying iPhone and iPad

Apple has pressed charges of violating intellectual property rights against South Korean company Samsung Electronics, reported Bloomberg on Monday, April 18. The lawsuit on behalf of Apple was lodged to the Federal District Court for the Northern District of California.
According to Reuters, the lawsuit states that Samsung Galaxy mobile phones and tablet PCs are in fact copies of the Apple products iPhone and iPad.
"It’s no coincidence that the new Samsung device are very similar to iPhone and iPad - from the hull form to the user interface and even the packaging," - Apple spokesman Steve Dowling said, adding that it was a "rough copy". "We must protect our intellectual property, if other companies steal the ideas of Apple", - said Dowling.
However, according to the documents provided for the investigation, the plaintiff company names at least one significant difference - Galaxy smartphones and tablets are powered by Google Android platform, which is a direct competitor to the Apple OS.
Bloomberg also says that Kim Titus, representative of Samsung Electronics, in his turn said that the company will take "all necessary legal steps to protect our intellectual property", implying that the Apple suit will not stay without reply.
