Prince's birth is worth a £20 George and Dragon coin

The birth of Prince George, the son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, proved to be social and political milestone both for the global community and the United Kingdom. Country’s budget revenues hit record highs owing to celebrations of the royal baby birth. It is not surprising that the Royal Mint came up with a coin to commemorate the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's baby on a £20 coin. According to the official data, the silver coin is ready to be minted and will be sold at its face value for £20. However, George's portrait will not be printed on a coin, instead, it will bear St George and the Dragon and HM Queen Elizabeth II. Having struck a limited edition of 250,000 specimens only, the Mint will strictly limit the purchases to three per household. Moreover, the coins are available via the Royal Mint website starting from October 31. The authorities believe that the new coin will have a “lasting value”. Nevertheless, Richard Lobel of Coincraft doubts “any dealer will give more than £8 or £9 for it “.
