Elon Musk wins top rank in Bloomberg Billionaires Index

Technical genius Elon Musk has a good excuse to celebrate the minute of glory. Eventually, the designer of electric vehicles and spacecraft grabbed the top rank on the list of the wealthiest people in the world.

A spike in the value of Tesla stocks enabled Elon Musk to outpace Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder who has settled firmly at the forefront of the rating since 2017. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the talented designer and billionaire entrepreneur was acknowledged as the world’s richest person in the first rating of 2021. Bloomberg experts estimated that a mere $3 billion had separated Elon Musk from the title of the richest person. So, he was trailing long-standing leader Jeff Bezos until early January 2021.

Elon Musk did not rejoice in his triumph for long. He was taking the lead in the rating for about a week. He lost the title of the richest person after Tesla stock had tumbled nearly 8% on a single trading day. Such a sharp fall instantly erased $14 billion from his fortune. Currently, Tesla chief’s net worth is measured at $176.2 billion, thus making him the second wealthiest person on a planet scale. In the meantime, Jeff Bezos has regained the crown.
