US imposes restrictions on Huawei suppliers

China’s tech giant, Huawei, has cherished hopes that a new president and Democratic majority in the Senate will ease sanctions against it. However, Joe Biden not only maintained all sanctions implemented by his predecessor but also tightened restrictions on the company’s suppliers.

Recently, the Biden administration has imposed new limits on some firms that supply components to Huawei. They are now forbidden to export equipment like semiconductors, antennas, and batteries for Huawei 5G devices. New tighter restrictions have already come into force. This means that the government will continue to fiercely guard US national security interests and personal data.

As a reminder, Huawei turned out to be not only a commercial company but also a subdivision of Chinese intelligence services engaged in industrial espionage. On top of that, Huawei planned to install its 5G wireless networks on potential enemy territories. As a result, the US had to intervene and impose sanctions on the tech behemoth. The Commerce Department blacklisted the company due to potential national security risks to the US. Under the circumstances, Huawei was deprived of any opportunity to purchase high-tech components in the United States.
