According to the Bloomberg billionaires index, an owner of casino in Macau Lui Che-woo was ranked as the wealthiest entrepreneur in Asia.
The net worth of the gambling magnate, who founded Galaxy Entertainment Group, grew to $29.6 billion. A month ago his fortune was $3.5 billion less.
The Macau mogul could prosper thanks to his Galaxy shares, one of six companies with a gambling license in Macau. Last year the company’s papers soared 129%. Lui Che Wu has the controlling interest in Galaxy. Together with the shares of his family trust, the stake amounts to 65%.
Lui Che Wu was named third in the Bloomberg list in 2013, as he accumulated $14.2 billion. Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, took the first position (+15.5 billion), Sheldon Adelson, the owner of casino in Las Vegas, was in the second position (+14.4 billion).
Thus, Lui Che-woo has replaced Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing as Asia’s richest man. Mr. Li’s net worth was $100 million less than of Lui Che Wu. Lee Ka-shin took the firth position in April 2012 surpassing the Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani.
