Turkey to ban YouTube and Facebook

It turned that most of the problems in a country such as the economic slump and growing public discontent can be solved easily. Recep Tayip Erdogan, Turkey’s prime minister, is of the opinion that all that the government needs is to ban YouTube and Facebook. Speaking to journalists, the politician said that the authorities will impose some restrictions on the Turkish internet users after the parliamentary elections scheduled for March 30.
In particular, the PM told that Turkey will “not leave this nation at the mercy of YouTube and Facebook”. It should be noted that the corruption scandal Erdogan was involved in was stirred up after some information leaked to these online resources. In particular, the phone talk between the premier and his son, in which, they were allegedly discussing the ways to hide a huge amount of money.
Apart from that, the Turkish prime minister was meddling in the country’s trade deals threatening to use his influence to those businessmen who denied agreeing on his terms. His phone conversations with legislators and juridical officials also became public. Erdogan used his official position demanding that decisions and judgments profitable for him be made.
According to the politician, who did not admit his guilt, YouTube and Facebook are the only two to blame.
"There are new steps we will take in that sphere after March 30... including a ban (on YouTube, Facebook)," Erdogan told in an interview. There is a law in Turkey that allows the government to ban any site without a court order in case of an ”offensive content”. Previously, the WordPress hosting as well as some video sharing sites like DailyMotion and Vimeo were prohibited. Until 2010, YouTube in Turkey had also been forbidden.
