France Press reported Japan’s Hitachi will provide a skyscraper in Guangzhou, southern China with the fastest lift in the world. The lift will be capable to reach a speed of 72 km/h.
Such speedy lifts will be installed in the 111-storeyed CTF Financial Centre in Guangzhou. The tallest building in the city 530 meters high is scheduled to be completed in 2016. The skyscraper will house engineering firms, a hotel, and residential space. The lift will take 43 seconds to go from the first to 95th floor covering the distance of 440 meters.
The tower-like building will have in total 95 lifts, two of which will move at the ultra-high speed. The fastest elevator in the world will be operated by a newly designed engine notable for its high durability and capacity. And brakes able to resist extreme heat will activate in the "unlikely" event of a malfunction.
Nowadays, the Chinese lift manufacturers are the most competitive in the world satisfying 60% of the global demand. Currently, the Taipei 101 building in Taiwan’s capital city holds the record of the fastest ever lift which can travel up to 60.6 km/h.
