Virgin Galactic to open ticket sales to general public

Space tourism is currently one of the most promising industries with several major players offering investors exciting prospects. Although tourism has been one of the hardest-hit sectors by the pandemic, space tourism has its own benefits - no restrictions have been imposed on it, so travelers can go to outer space.

Virgin Galactic, a space travel operator, has recently announced it will open ticket sales to the general public. Ticket prices start at $450,000, requiring a $150,000 deposit to secure a seat. The company has previously said that deposits are not refundable.

Virgin Galactic has had about 600 reservations for tickets on future flights for over a decade. Those tickets were sold between $200,000 and $250,000 each. The space travel company opened ticket sales at the price of $450,000 last August and sold 100 additional tickets as of November. Owing to the opening of ticket sales, Virgin Galactic shares skyrocketed by more than 10%.

Alongside selling tickets to the public, Virgin Galactic changed the iris of Sir Richard Branson in its logo to a purple outline of its spacecraft.
