Rothschilds’ investment in Gazprom grows sevenfold

Rothschild Investment Corporation increased its investment in the American depositary receipts (ADRs) of Gazprom by seven times, ITAR-TASS reports referring to the materials of the fund directed to the SEC, USA.
The investments have risen on the back of the Ukrainian crisis. By the end of 2013, Rothschilds’ portfolio of Gazprom’s equities was $241,000. In April, the investments advanced to $1.7 million.
In December 2013, the ADRs of the Russian monopoly cost $8.65 per share. In April, the shares traded at $7.77, although Gazprom stocks had been traded even at a lower price in the first quarter.
Presently, the Russian shares are considered as ones of the cheapest securities in the world. The price-to-profit ratio averages at 6 : 1 on the Russian market, while the acceptable ratio is 12-13 : 1.
Rothschild Investment Corporation was established by Monroe Rothschild and his brother-in-law Samuel Karger in 1908. This closed company is also known as “a boutique investment firm” offering investment and asset management to wealthy Americans.
