The implementation of the pipeline construction to China will make it the world’s biggest consumer of the Russian gas, President Putin said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
He said that Russia signed а gas deal with China (the “Power of Siberia” pipeline) that will provide Chinese people with 38 billion cubic meters of gas annually. According to Vladimir Putin, it will be the world’s largest pipeline construction project. He highlighted that the next step is to organize the western route of supplies that will connect the eastern and western gas infrastructure. "China would certainly take first place if the so-called Western route is used," Putin said.
