South Korea Has $6.80 Billion Current Account Surplus

South Korea posted a current account surplus of $6.80 billion in October, the Bank of Korea said on Friday - up from $5.42 billion in September.

The goods account recorded a $5.35 billion surplus as exports increased annually by 7.6 percent to $57.00 billion and imports decreased by 4.3 percent to $51.65 billion compared to one year earlier.

The services account posted a $1.25 billion deficit owing to deficits in the manufacturing services and travel accounts. The primary income account recorded a $2.77 billion surplus due to an increase in the income on equity earned from direct and portfolio investment.

The secondary income account recorded a $0.07 billion deficit.
