Alcoa Corporation (AA) declared on Thursday that they will be providing Nexans with low-carbon aluminum rods. These rods are manufactured using ELYSIS technology. The aluminum generated via this technology eradicates all the direct greenhouse gas emissions procured from the traditional smelting process, resulting in the emission of oxygen as a byproduct.

The ELYSIS technology uniquely employs proprietary materials such as inert anodes to accomplish this impressive achievement. This innovative process is expected to allow multiple Nexans facilities located in Western Europe and Scandinavia to begin utilizing aluminum created from ELYSIS technology in the manufacture of a variety of cable types, spanning from low to high voltage.
