Data from Spain's statistical office INE has shown a continued decline in the country's producer prices in January, although the rate of decrease has significantly slowed down. Yearly producer prices experienced a decrease of 3.8 percent, following a 6.3 percent drop in December.
Producer prices in Spain have been on a downward trajectory since March 2023. Despite this, the current 3.8 percent decline is the slowest in this ongoing downward sequence.
Excluding energy, inflation of producer prices relaxed to 0.2 percent, down from 1.1 percent the previous month.
Looking at the producer price index, both consumer goods prices and capital goods prices saw increases of 5.4 percent and 2.7 percent respectively. However, these gains were offset by a 5.7 percent slide in intermediate goods producer prices and a significant 12.6 percent drop in energy prices.
On a monthly basis, producer prices saw a 0.2 percent uplift, contrasting with the 0.3 percent decline witnessed in December.
