IFF Secures Approval For Commercialization Of Synerxia Yeasts For Biofuel Production In Argentina

International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF) reported on Wednesday that it has gained approval from the Argentine Ministry of Economy to commercialize genetically modified Synerxia yeasts in Argentina for the production of bioethanol from grains.

Synerxia yeasts are designed to enhance the transformation of corn into bioethanol by as much as three percent, thereby increasing the process's efficiency. These yeasts are developed through a combination of hybridization and genetic enhancement, significantly lowering glycerol production and enabling optimized ethanol conversion.

IFF also highlighted that the utilization of these high-tech yeasts could prevent industrial performance losses caused by high ambient temperatures during processing. This could result in substantial productivity enhancements, cost savings, and improved yield and profitability during production expansion.
