Sohu.com Q4 Net Loss Widens, Revenues Down; Sees Loss In Q1

Sohu.com Limited (SOHU), a renowned Internet service provider based in China, unveiled its financial statistics for the fourth quarter, exposing a net loss of $12.62 million. This deficit is broader compared to the former year's net loss of $7.09 million.

The net loss sat at $0.37 per American depositary share (ADS), showing a leap from the $0.21 per share net deficit in the year prior. When adjusted, the net loss attributable stood at $11 million or equivalently $0.32 per ADS, revealing a surge from the $2 million net loss the previous year.

The total revenues gathered achieved a sum of $141.36 million. This displays a 12 percent downturn from last years' $160.40 million, and a 3 percent sequential decline. The revenues procured from online games amounted to $115 million, marking a 5 percent decrease year-on-year. Additionally, the online advertising revenues and brand advertising revenues contracted by 18 percent and 30 percent respectively.

Projecting into the first quarter, Sohu approximates the net loss attributable to range between $26 million and $36 million, with the adjusted net loss attributable placed between $23 million and $33 million.

The company projects brand advertising revenues to lie between $15 million and $17 million, portraying a yearly dilution of 25 percent to 33 percent. As for its online game revenues, it is forecasting a figure between $110 million and $120 million, reflecting a yearly reduction of 7 percent to 15 percent.
