Indonesian consumers maintained a positive outlook in February, according to recent survey data from Bank Indonesia. The consumer confidence index decreased slightly to 123.1 in February from 125.0 in January. However, any reading above 100 indicates a general optimistic sentiment among households.
This robust consumer confidence in February can be attributed to elevated consumer expectation indices and a hopeful current economic condition index. Specifically, the current economic condition index declined to 110.9 in February from 115.6 in January. Concurrent data displayed an upward trend in the consumer expectation index, which rose to 135.3 from 134.5 the previous month. This was primarily driven by indices for income expectation and job availability.
