Eli Lilly Strikes Deal With Amazon Pharmacy To Deliver Prescription Drugs

Eli Lilly, a prominent pharmaceutical company, revealed that Amazon's Pharmacy division has agreed to home deliver several of its prescription medications including the weight loss drug Zepbound.

As per the agreement, Amazon Pharmacy will deliver prescribed medications for conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and migraine to clients who place orders through Eli Lilly's web platform, LillyDirect.

Frank Cunningham, Senior Vice President of Global Value and Access at Eli Lilly, voiced his support for the arrangement saying, "The primary goal is to create an outstanding customer experience where the product reaches our clients as swiftly as possible."

Amazon Pharmacy offers a two-day delivery service to its Amazon Prime members, in addition to offering around-the-clock access to clinical pharmacists to resolve any customer queries about their medications.

John Love, Vice President of Amazon Pharmacy, maintained that even the two-day delivery option isn’t ambitious enough, suggesting that their services are still growing. Love believes that such offerings make Amazon an appealing partner to companies like Eli Lilly, as well as payers and providers who are hunting for a unique style of pharmacy.

LillyDirect, which launched this January, offers a direct connection to an independent health company. This allows eligible clients to get their prescriptions without needing a doctor’s appointment.

Eli Lilly also collaborates with another online delivery partner, Truepill, to get medications to their patients.
