Czech Economic Sentiment At 10-Month High

Economic confidence in the Czech Republic increased in March, reaching its highest point in ten months, according to recent survey results from the Czech Statistical Office.

The economic sentiment index, which measures the overall health of the economic climate, rose to 94.2 in March, up from 90.6 the previous month. This rise marks the highest recorded level since May 2023 when it came in at 94.4.

Business sentiment also saw a similar trend of improvement, with its index rising to 93.0 from 89.9 a month earlier. Industrial confidence followed suit, increasing from 85.2 to 88.9. In addition, the sentiment index for trade also saw notable improvement, rising to 93.0 from 88.1 in February.

Consumer confidence likewise showed a marked resurgence in March. The sentiment index (a measure of optimism consumers feel about the overall state of the economy) jumped to 99.9 from 94.0 in the previous month. Correspondingly, fewer survey respondents anticipate a worsening in the overall economic situation in the upcoming twelve months, indicating improved attitudes compared to February's results.
