FTSE 100 Marginally Lower In Lackluster Trade

UK stocks were relatively quiet on Tuesday as investors prepare for the upcoming Easter holiday and the imminent announcement on the Federal Reserve's primary measure of fundamental US inflation.

The FTSE 100, the London Stock Exchange's primary index, saw a slight dip to 7,914, following a 0.2 percent decline the previous day.

The online supermarket, Ocado, experienced a 2 percent increase in shares after boasting an impressive performance in the first quarter with a 10.6 percent increase in revenue compared to the previous year.

Flutter Entertainment also saw a near 2 percent rise in its shares following the announcement of robust financial results for 2023.

Shares in Smiths Group, a global industrial technology company, surged by 3 percent. This follows the company's announcement of a £100 million share buy-back program, after reporting positive half-year earnings results.

Conversely, the housing construction firm, Bellway, saw a 1 percent drop in shares after its pretax profit fell during the first half of the year.
