German Industrial Output Falls Slightly In April

Germany's industrial production experienced a marginal decline in April, as reported by Destatis on Friday.

Industrial output fell by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis in April, following a 0.4 percent decrease in March. Despite this slower decline, the outcome contradicted economists' expectations of a 0.3 percent gain.

When excluding energy and construction, industrial production increased by 0.2 percent. Both capital goods and consumer goods production saw a rise of 0.8 percent each, whereas intermediate goods output decreased by 0.9 percent.

Energy production noted a monthly increase of 1.6 percent. Conversely, construction output dropped by 2.1 percent.

On a year-on-year basis, industrial production registered a 3.9 percent decline, following a 4.3 percent decrease in March, according to the data.
