Sensex, Nifty Modestly Higher With IT Stocks In Focus

Indian equities commenced the week on an optimistic note, reflecting strong global market signals driven by expectations of Federal Reserve rate cuts and speculations on Donald Trump’s possible return to the White House.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex increased by 195 points (0.2%) to reach 80,715 in early trading. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty index advanced by 65 points (0.3%) to 24,567.

Among the notable movers, HCL Technologies surged by 3.6% following a 20% rise in its quarterly profit. Conversely, Infosys saw a marginal decline, while Wipro experienced a modest gain of about 0.5% ahead of their earnings announcements.

MTNL saw a 2.4% uptick on news that the government might transfer its operations to BSNL through an agreement. Avenue Supermarts appreciated by 2.3% after reporting a 17.5% increase in Q1 profit.

PC Jeweler climbed 2% amid reports of fundraising activities. HUL dipped slightly after its parent company, Unilever, announced plans to reduce a third of its office workforce in Europe.

5paisa Capital jumped 5.7% following a robust 39% rise in its Q1 consolidated net profit. IREDA saw a rise of 4.2% after posting a 30.2% growth in Q1 net profit.

Lastly, RVNL gained 1% upon securing a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) for a project valued at Rs 132.6 crore from Central Railway.
