Ericsson (ERIC) and OPPO have finalized a multi-year global patent cross-license agreement that encompasses patents vital to standards for cellular technologies, including 5G. Under this agreement, OPPO will remit royalty payments to Ericsson. Furthermore, the two companies will collaborate on various 5G-related projects, such as device testing, customer engagements, and marketing initiatives.
Christina Petersson, Chief Intellectual Property Officer at Ericsson, stated, "This license validates the effectiveness of the patent licensing industry and demonstrates that the majority of license agreements are resolved through business negotiations. We are excited to enhance Ericsson's IPR revenues with additional 5G agreements and to explore new licensing domains, including IoT and consumer electronics."
