In July, South Korea registered a merchandise trade surplus of $3.62 billion, according to data released by Statistics Korea on Thursday. This figure fell short of the anticipated $5.00 billion surplus and marked a decline from the $7.99 billion surplus recorded in June.
Exports saw a year-on-year increase of 13.9 percent, although this was below the forecasted 18.4 percent rise. However, it still improved from the 5.1 percent growth observed in the previous month. Meanwhile, imports rose by 10.5 percent annually, which was less than the expected 13.4 percent increase but a significant recovery from the 7.5 percent decline experienced in the preceding month.
