General Dynamics Electric Boat, a division of General Dynamics (GD), has secured a $1.3 billion undefinitized contract modification. This agreement facilitates Electric Boat's procurement of long lead-time materials for the construction of Virginia Class Block VI submarines, as mandated by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Virginia-class submarines are engineered from the keel up to meet the comprehensive mission requirements of the 21st century, including anti-submarine and surface ship warfare as well as special operations support. General Dynamics Electric Boat serves as the prime contractor and principal design yard for the Virginia class, collaborating in a teaming arrangement with HII's Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia.
