Poland Inflation Rises To 8-Month High

Poland's consumer price inflation saw a slight uptick in August, reaching its highest level in eight months, primarily driven by a surge in utility costs, according to preliminary data released by Statistics Poland on Friday.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 4.3% year-over-year in August, marginally above the 4.2% rise observed in June, aligning with market expectations.

Notably, this marks the highest inflation rate since December 2023, when prices had surged by 6.2%.

Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose by 4.1% annually in August, while utility costs experienced a significant increase of 10.3%.

Conversely, expenses related to fuels for personal transportation equipment declined by 1.7%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up by 0.1% in August.
