Lilly Names Lucas Montarce EVP And CFO With Immediate Effect

Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY) has announced the immediate appointment of Lucas Montarce as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Montarce will also join the company's Executive Committee. He replaces Anat Ashkenazi, who resigned as CFO in June to pursue opportunities outside the pharmaceutical sector.

Montarce has been with Lilly since 2001 and most recently served as president and general manager for the company's operations in Spain, Portugal, and Greece. His extensive background in finance includes roles such as group vice president, corporate controller and CFO of Lilly Research Laboratories, vice president of finance and CFO of Lilly International, and vice president of finance and global CFO of Elanco Health.

Commenting on the appointment, David Ricks, chair and CEO of Eli Lilly, stated, "Developing leadership talent has always been one of Lilly's strengths. Lucas has excelled in various roles with increasing responsibility and impact. Having worked closely with him for over a decade, I am confident in his drive, curiosity, and integrity to succeed as our next CFO."

In pre-market trading on the NYSE, Lilly shares were up 1.13 percent, trading at $912.89.
