Manchester United Posts Wider Loss In Q4; Issues FY25 Guidance

Manchester United (MANU) reported a net loss of £36.3 million for the fourth quarter, a significant increase from a loss of £2.9 million in the same period last year. This translates to a loss per share of 21.44 pence, up from a loss of 1.79 pence. Additionally, adjusted EBITDA fell to £19.3 million from the previous year's £43.2 million. The adjusted basic loss per share grew to 15.79 pence from 6.18 pence.

Revenue from customer contracts decreased to £142.21 million, a drop from £167.33 million in the prior year.

Looking ahead, for fiscal year 2025, the company has introduced revenue guidance in the range of £650 million to £670 million and adjusted EBITDA guidance between £145 million and £160 million.

Starting from the third quarter of fiscal 2024, the club initiated a business transformation plan. Through this plan, it expects to achieve annualized cost savings of approximately £40 million to £45 million, albeit with implementation costs of £10 million. These savings are anticipated to be realized over fiscal years 2025 and 2026.
